The Perfect Time of Year to Have a Hamptons Wedding
By:Sarah Brooks
September is without a doubt the perfect time of year for a "Hamptons wedding", the summer share house crowd has gone back to spending their weekends in NYC, the heat has subsided, and most of the bed and breakfasts and hotels have done away with their high season four night minimums.
Since most of the bride and grooms friends and family will often be from out of town, the last thing you want to subject your guests to is Rt. 27 traffic. It is hard enough to become acquainted with a new destinations for many of your guests, let alone trying to figure out the back roads of the East End. You want your guests to enjoy your special Hamptons wedding weekend, and not become stuck behind a slow moving UV on its way to a Montauk camp ground.
The weather in September is usually delightful. With the exception of an occasional hurricane warning, you are almost guaranteed perfect weather. A sunset reception at one of the wineries or a tented affair at a private home can be magnificent. You can even have a daytime beachfront wedding without the risk of having the best man hit over the head by a passing Frisbee.
September is also a perfect time to find affordable lodging for your guests. Some of the bed and breakfasts, which charge anywhere from $350 and up, lower their rates for what they call "mid-season". The more rustic waterfront hotels in Amagansett also lower their rates and can often accommodate all of your wedding guests. Your guests have the choice of spending the weekend taking walks on the beach, playing golf, antiquing and countless other activities that the Hamptons has to offer.
Consider the month of September for your "Hamptons wedding", for it is certainly the most beautiful time of year for the East End.
