Hints for Selecting Flowers for Your Big Day

When working with your florist consider the season and location of your wedding. If you are planning on having a beach wedding in July, you do not want to pick poinsettias and holly for your centerpieces. The following is a list of when specific flowers are in season:

SPRING
Anemone, Asters, Calla Lily, Carnations, Chrysanthemum, Daffodil, English, Lavender, Gladiolas, Heather, Iris, Lilac, Lilies, Lily of the Valley, Orchids, Peony, Pannunculus, Roses, Snapdragons, Sunflowers, Sweetpea, Tulip, Veronica, Waxflower

SUMMER
Amaranthus, Asters, Bells of Ireland, Blue Cloud, Carnations, Colored Calla Lilies, Assorted Lilies, Roses, Salvia, Stephanotis, Sunflower

FALL
Amaryllis, Euphorbia, Iris, Narcissus, Shrib Honeysuckle, Viburnum, Winter Jasmine

WINTER

Make a checklist for all of the flowers you will need for your wedding. The following is a guideline:

ATTENDANTS

Remember, before meeting with your florist for the first time, tear out pictures of flower arrangements from magazines so that your florist has an idea of your personal style and taste. Enjoy picking the flowers for your wedding, it is one of the best parts of the planning process.
